Art works made by some of our participating artists..

After 17 journeys to India, I now have a body of trusted friends and colleagues who support our journey. The tours are escorted + safe with treats that you will not find on any other tour - everybody remarks on how they enjoyed the  many special ‘of the tourist route’ activities, local experiences that you may not experience elsewhere. I started off as an adventure backpacker so I still have this free spirited nature only now we stay in beautiful heritage listed hotels + Raj Palaces!! and properties with great character – an inspiration for artists – they are also peaceful so you will have an opportunity to unwind and sketch in your own time. We travel in a comfortable 13 seater AC mini bus with chai stops along the way to rest and it is well paced with no rushing from one place to another. We are flexible and sensitive to our artists and respect the creative process..

However, we still consider our art tours to India to be very much about adventure. They are beautiful, thought provoking, and designed for those who like to be personally and creatively challenged

And of course, none of this could have been achieved without  my dear friend and director of Lakshmi Tours, Kamlesh Vyas – we all love him on tour and most of our participants keep contact – quite simply, we are like family on tour…

Visit traditional woodblock printers, watch the dying of fabrics and create a stunning Art journal filled with your observations, fabric designs and natural pigments.

We are a small specialised company offering Art tours that incorporate art making with visits to traditional artisans – we are artists who conduct the tours so we understand the need to keep it small, personal and to add unique touches that you may not experience with larger companies or even smaller ones..we will not be waving flags at you to follow us! nor will you feel like a ‘tourist’..

Our local knowledge ensures that you will feel part of the fabric of  the location..our research is impeccable so that you come away feeling informed, not a superficial drop in tourist…you will have plenty of time to relax, make your art and enjoy the special itinerary..

In conjunction with Lakshmi Tours and my friend and tour operator, Kamlesh Vyas  we have an inspiring artmaking programme, including visits to traditional artisans. See the Drawn to India menu for our itineries.\

Thanks for visiting! X Catherine

  • “I was looking for the perfect art trip to India and I found it in Catherine Parker’s “Drawn to India” tour. It was a
unique blend of planned and independent experiences and we were in ideal artist’s locations,
beautiful and less touristy. Catherine and her partner Kamlesh saw to every detail so that I was free
to spend all my time creating art and having fun. It was a completely magical time.

  • “The Drawn to India tour with Catherine Parker was an amazing, life changing experience.  The itinerary and the accommodation were so special  – the average tourist could never stumble upon such places without the combined wealth of experience and research by Catherine and Kamlesh. We left each stop with reluctance, only to be greeted by something more awe inspiring at the next destination. Catherine’s bubbly, caring personality made her a pleasure to be around, and she made sure we felt safe and well looked after throughout the tour. Hands-on art activities and workshops helped us to loosen up and try new styles and it was a pleasure to share such a fun and stimulating adventure with fellow creatives. I can highly recommend this tour to aspiring or established artists.”Lindel Greggery – Australia
  • The two week tour itself was AMAZING to say the least.  It was like being on a magic carpet ride (and we also travelled by bus, train, jeep, camel, elephant, taxi, tuk tuk, motorbike and aeroplane).  We stayed in 4 and 5 star Raj Palaces in old cities and no-star rammed earth dwellings in the middle of the desert.  We mixed with royalty and gypsies, met tribes people, farmers and talented artisans who shared their craft and their food, and who opened their homes and their hearts to us.  All along Catherine and her team paved the way for a smooth and authentic trip of a lifetime.  It overflowed with inspiration, contrast, culture and colour … and best of all, we made art along the way.  Beth Laurenson, Australia

  1. We joined Catherine’s ‘Drawn to India’ trip in November 2010. The experience was bizzarre, invigorating and amazing, like diving into a Salman Rushdie novel with all it’s contradicting, fantastic, multilayered story lines, history jostling with the present and crowded with improbable characters. Not just that, but Catherine and Kamlesh’s tour was designed so you got to be part of the novel too. A small group, going to off-beat places, doing artwork outside, in hotels, cafes and in the street, meeting people from all walks of life and learning about Indian culture was brilliant. Totally recommend Catherine and Kamlesh to anyone who has a love of life and a happy heart.
