  • suitable for all artists & art educators both primary and secondary – to reinvigorate your practice as an artist and teacher in the classroom: 15 hours PD with certificate

The intention of this 3 day workshop: ”How to work thematically with your art work”

This workshop aims to encourage and assist you with focusing on pulling together your ideas and implementing them in a sustainable and enduring way. At the completion of the workshop it is anticipated that you will create a body of work that is thematically linked and at the same time take home a number of skills and processes to experiment with.

A 3 day journey in colour, process; experimentation; imagination and conceptual exploration using acrylic paints, gouache, watercolour and mixed media.

Create a series of works on paper, wood and canvas; we will explore pattern, shape, texture, in depth colour mixing, glazing and assorted painting techniques to accelerate your creativity or, for experienced artists this workshop will broaden your conceptual and technical skill base leading to new ways of approaching either your existing folio or lead to a series of new narratives..

Special Guest artist: Dr Kyle Jenkins
Day 2: Morning: Special visiting guest artist: Dr Kyle Jenkins – a national and internationally respected contemporary artist who exhibits extensively in both commercial and museum spaces –  His artist practice is concerned with spatial construction through colour and line related to both representation and abstraction. His practice is multidisciplinary incorporating painting, wall painting, photography, objects, porcelain, collage and drawing. He is represented by Kant Galleri (Copenhagen) and Minus Space (New York). This is a wonderful opportunity to engage and view a multi disciplinary approach to making art..

The workshop
Create a body of work that is a true reflection of your path as an artist, that reflects your personal story, is authentic and  multi layered. This could encompass many different approaches, yet essentially will always come back to the source of your story – whatever makes you tick.

We will discuss different approaches by contemporary artists and this could be: abstract; figurative; landscape; folk; colourfield; or multidisciplinary – a combination of approaches

For many artists, it is a lifelong journey of discovery and research to reach this point. We are all influenced by many factors – our environment; other artists; objects; the domestic environment; travel; spirituality; our imagination and the endless but fascinating ‘peripheral’  of the everyday..endless subject matter for consideration!

  • suitable for all skill levels. As a professional Art Educator this workshop is open to Art Educators with specific components suitable as professional development tools– please email me or go to: and for artist profile
